I couldn’t have been the only one to think this when Sato called Mako a “street rat”

Avatars learning the other 3 elements.
Avatar Aang and Avatar Roku got to travel around the world to master the 3 elements (aside from their native element) while Korra was stuck in the Southern Water Tribe, only to try mastering Airbending in Republic City.
Roku found out he was the Avatar when he turned 16.
Aang found out he was the Avatar when he was 12 (War reasons)
Korra found out she was the Avatar below the age of 10, and had the White Lotus kept her safe in the Southern Water Tribe to master the elements, Aang may have feared that the next Avatar would not be safe and cause another genocide. She had her own compound
while Howl was watchingand sometimes isn’t allowed to take Naga out for a stroll, This is why she has a hard time mastering Air, for air is the element of freedom. She spent her 17 years in a isolated placeHow do you master Earth in the South Pole anyway? nvmand is always watched, she never had freedom until she escaped to Republic City to train Airbending with Tenzin.Maybe Aang also wanted Korra to know her true identity as the Avatar in a young age so that she wouldn’t be shocked and confused. The sad thing is, being the Avatar is the only thing that makes her feel great, she’s not like Aang who is hesitant to admit he’s the Avatar, she acknowledges it. I’m pretty sure Aang and Roku experienced being “normal”. But for Korra, she knew she was the Avatar from the start. That is why Amon is truly horrifying for her, what is she without her bending? It’s what makes her special.
